The Tale of Brave Di

"The Tale of Brave Di" - an intergenerational tale of tolerance, friendship and sensitivity for early years children

The book is interdisciplinary, containing both prose and rhymed songs with sheet music and QR codes that, using a smartphone, redirect the reader to recordings of the songs. The music for the songs was created by Wrocław-based jazz composer Marzena Cybulka. In addition, the publication is enriched with illustrations by Veranika Siamionava, a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław.

Plot summary

The protagonist of 'The Fairy Tale of Brave Di' is Sleeping Beauty, who initially leads an 'empty life', full of vanity and laziness. When her parents plan to marry her off to the cunning Prince Odravaz, the Princess decides to run away and take up the fight for her own life. During her journey, she meets fascinating characters such as Silver Babuleña, Witch Alice and Dwarf Marzenka, who help her discover empathy and courage. Escaping from the war to hospitable Wrocław changes her life - Królewna becomes Brave Di, dedicating herself to helping the weak and sick. As a result of her actions, branches of the "Hall of Hearts" are established - places full of warmth and support, spread all over Lower Silesia.
